COVID choices

I wrote this for another group yesterday but thought I'd share here too.....

I think it's safe to say that today is the first day that I've let my anxiety completely swallow me. My comfort zone includes forms, checklists, efficiency and clear and successful plans. I am decidedly out of the comfort zone. I swore I wouldn't panic but by lunchtime I had already talked to the pediatrician, checked on all parental units, tried to be cool Mom in explaining why I'm scrubbing your little fingers incessantly, critiqued a service provider's new COVID policy in classic Mama grizz form, deputized myself to sign my daughter's AWANA verses since we're skipping church stuff and hit the grocery store. I'm sure I was not cute with 2 hangry kids and my allotment of water bottles and other necessities. And as productive as all that was and as much as I want to honor my emotions, I didn't leave a whole lot of room for God. If you've read Jennie Allen's new book, you know her battle cry is "you have a choice". I relinquished my choices to my fear today. Tomorrow will be different. Tomorrow I will take it back. Join me in some better choices.

  1. When hubby is upsetting you with his stress from all this, choose grace. (Thankfully mine isn't)

  2. When the kids are getting on your nerves, choose laughter.

  3. When you want to scream, choose peace.....but please have all the ugly cries you need.

  4. When you begin to fear the unknown, choose faith in the one who knows all.

  5. When you can't breath, choose to exhale.

  6. When you can't sleep, choose to pray. Seriously, 3am CST I'm gonna have some Jesus up in here!

  7. When you don't see a purpose in this, choose to trust there is a plan.

  8. And when the room starts spinning, choose to remember that you have a purpose in that plan.
